Degree Programs

Redeemer offers more than 80 different majors and minors leading to Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degrees.

Experiential Learning

Eight-month co-op placements are available for students in the business program. Students in all programs can take advantage of internships, volunteer and off-campus opportunities.

Accreditation

Redeemer operates under a charter from the Government of Ontario and is a member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) and the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).

Affiliation

Redeemer is an interdenominational institution with students representing more than 50 different denominations. Our mission statement is based on the Reformed Christian tradition.

Admissions Standards

We welcome students who, through their previous studies or experiences, have demonstrated the ability to succeed and are interested in the mission and purpose of Redeemer.

Tuition and Fees

For the academic year of 2014-2015, Redeemer enrollment costs are: tuition $15,162; housing $4,660; student fees $505. Meal plans for on-campus students range from $2,148 to $2,548.

Financial Aid

Students can take advantage of a wide range of financial aid options such as scholarships, bursaries, on-campus employment, government assistance programs and the Redeemer Student Fund Loan Program. In 2012-2013, 81% of students received assistance from various sources, totalling more than $8.5 million.

Enrollment

In the Fall, 2013 term, 910 students were enrolled, representing 7 Canadian provinces, 8 US states and 19 other countries.

Student/Faculty Ratio and Class Size

The average class size at Redeemer is 24, and classes range from 3 to 100 students. Our student to faculty ratio is 16:1.

Faculty/Staff

Currently there are 46 full-time and 61 part-time faculty. Faculty members are engaged in teaching, research and service to the community. Redeemer also employs 72 full-time and approximately 20 part-time staff, and 11 coaches.

Research Centres

The Pascal Centre for Advanced Studies in Faith and Science, established in 1988, houses a bibliographic database of more than 28,000 items including a research library with more than 25 current periodicals, 3,500 books and 2,000 reprints that relate to issues in religion and science. The Dooyeweerd Centre for Christian Philosophy was established in 1994 to make more accessible the works of the noted Dutch Christian philosopher Herman Dooyeweerd (1894-1977).

Research Expenditures

Research activities have been supported in part by the Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council of Canada, the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council of Canada, other funding agencies and donors. In 2012-2013, this external funding amounted to $182,260 of the total $249,142 spent on research at Redeemer.

Alumni and Graduate Employment Statistics

Since the first commencement exercises in 1986, Redeemer has graduated more than 4,000 students. Approximately 34% of all graduates have continued their education in professional and academic programs in more than 90 graduate schools across Canada, the U.S. and around the world. Redeemer alumni can be found working in a wide range of businesses, social service agencies and public institutions.

Campus Features

Redeemer is located on a beautiful 86-acre campus in Ancaster, part of the City of Hamilton, ON. Redeemer’s main facilities were constructed in 1985 and consist of one comprehensive academic building, 43 townhouse style residences, 20 apartment-style units, a three-story residence hall and a student recreation centre. The campus includes athletic and recreational facilities for student and off-campus groups. In 2011, in partnership with Ancaster Soccer Club, Redeemer opened a new domed soccer facility.
